Initial Cell Optimising Engineer

This role is responsible for the production of the radio plans required during the customers six-week delivery and decommissioning process for a cell site.

Key responsibilities:

• The role of the ICO is tasked with the creation of radio data builds for sites progressing 
  through the customers established six-week gating procedure;
• The role performs the data building process and is executed within the customers planning 
  system;
• The role requires a comprehensive knowledge of radio architecture as is paramount for 
  the accurate identification of parameters within the build plan. Nokia and Ericsson vendor 
  equipment is in the customers’ network;
• The role will create for each site a distinct data build which is generated for each 
  technology, this takes place in various stages of plan creation, preparation, validation, and 
  build;
• The role will submit these finalised plans to the customers vendor partners, who will 
  convert them into integration scripts used by field engineers during the installation 
  procedure;
• The ICO is also responsible for creating decommission plans. Decommissioning data builds 
  are also built within the customers radio planning tool;
• The role will create decommissioning plans for each technology which requires a separate 
  data build which is then distributed to our vendors to convert into the relevant script. The 
  script is then run onto the network platform by the vendor to remove the desired cells;
• Each decommission data build will also follow the same staging of plan creation, 
  preparation, validation and build;
• The role will respond to any stakeholder inquiries regarding their status (including alarms) 
  and build type whilst new cell integrations are under the care of the ICO. Should incorrect 
  data build be found this may necessitate data build rebuilds to resolve these queries;
• The role will report weekly against the delivery across all projects to the customers 
  regional ICO Manager. Highlighting any risk, issues and dependencies.

Essential experience:

• Fully competent in the use of radio planning tools with particular emphasis on the ICO 
  role;
• Knowledge of radio parameter builds for Nokia and Ericsson sites;
• Essential to have a comprehensive knowledge of the radio architecture to ensure only the desired cells are removed from our network;
• High levels of computer literacy including all MS office applications;
• Educated to Degree level or equivalent is desirable;
• Certification in vendors equipment ie. Nokia and/or Ericsson;
• Work well within a team environment supporting other members;
• Minimum of two years’ experience in an Initial Cell Optimiser role
